Abby Samaha is a painter, illustrator, and calligrapher based in New York City.

Originally from Michigan, Abby has always relished making things with her hands and exploring the cultural and natural environs of where she happens to be. Friends, family, traveling, observing and documenting sustain her.

As an artist, Abby is curious about the variations in people and their everyday experiences. Her friendly, professional demeanor allows her to comfortably engage with the subjects of her paintings.

Abby holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, an MFA from the University of Minnesota and an MA in art education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has also worked with portraiture artists at the Art Student’s League of New York. Her extensive technical training and understanding of what makes a work of art visually engaging lends to her abilities as a portraitist.
